Dr. Emily Impett
Emily is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She is the Director of the Relationships and Well-Being Laboratory. She holds a Ph.D. from University of California, Los Angeles and prior to coming to Toronto, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.
GRADUATE STUDENTS
Natalie Sisson
Natalie is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto, under the primary supervision of Dr. Emily Impett. Her primary research interest is in close relationships, interpersonal regulation, and well-being. She is particularly interested in the ways that people attempt to regulate the emotions and behaviours of close others (e.g., romantic partners, children) and the benefits and costs of these pursuits for personal and interpersonal outcomes.
Gideon Park
Gideon is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Emily Impett. His primary research interest is in understanding the interplay between individual differences and contextual factors that shape the interpersonal dynamics of close relationships.
Hanieh Naeimi
Hanieh is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Emily Impett. Her primary research interest is in intercultural romantic relationships and how intercultural couples navigate their cultural differences. She is particularly interested in studying cultural sacrifices and their outcomes in these relationships.

Dr. Eri Sasaki
Eri is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto working with Dr. Impett. Her research examines a range of dyadic processes including couples’ emotional and behavioral dynamics during relationship interactions.
Dr. Kiersten Dobson
Kiersten Dobson is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto working with Dr. Impett. Her primary research interests lie in factors impacting long-term relationship maintenance, such as relational boredom, self-expansion, and sexual activity.
